Sift 1½ cups self raising flour, ¼ tsp salt and ½ tsp cinnamon
Add 1 tbsp coconut
Add 1 tbsp chopped walnuts
Cream 4 ozs shortening and ¾ cup brown sugar
Beat until light
Beat in 2 eggs one at a time
Add 2 tbsp cocoa dissolved in 2 tbsp hot water (cool before adding)
Blend well
Add flour mixture alternating with ½ cup milk, a small amount at a time
Beat smooth
Add ½ tsp vanilla
Bake in 8 x 8 x 2 ins cake pan in moderate oven for 40 mins
Ice with choc icing
Mark into squares and decorate with walnuts
